Frequently Asked Questions

Who is the assessment designed for?+
The assessment is completed by parents or carers on behalf of their child. It is designed for children aged 6–17, with questions calibrated to reflect age-appropriate digital experiences and behaviours.
How long does the assessment take?+
The full 28-question assessment typically takes 8–12 minutes to complete. Questions are straightforward and don't require any technical knowledge — just an understanding of your child's everyday digital behaviours.
Is my child's data kept private?+
Absolutely. HelloCyber takes data privacy seriously. Assessment responses are used solely to generate your results and are never shared with third parties. We follow strict data protection principles aligned with UK GDPR requirements.
How are the results calculated?+
Each of the 28 questions is mapped to one of the seven pillars and scored on a 1–4 scale. Pillar scores are calculated as a percentage of the maximum possible score for that pillar, and the overall score is a weighted average across all seven pillars.
Can schools use this assessment?+
Yes — a school-based version of the assessment is in development. It will include class-level reporting, anonymised cohort insights, and curriculum alignment guidance. Schools interested in early access can register their interest via the Join page.
How often should we retake the assessment?+
We recommend retaking the assessment every 6 months, or after significant changes in your child's digital life — such as getting a new device, joining a new platform, or transitioning to secondary school. Digital resilience is an ongoing development, not a one-time measure.
